Ola Electric Banned in Goa Over Poor Service

Due to poor after-sales service and repeated customer complaints, the Goa government has banned Ola Electric scooter sales across the state until further notice.

Goa Suspends Ola’s Trade Certificate Over Service Failures

The Goa Transport Department has officially suspended Ola Electric’s Trade Certificate following a surge in complaints about delayed repairs and inadequate service support. This decision effectively halts all new Ola scooter sales in Goa, as the department has also blocked the company’s registration access on the Vahan portal.

This is the strictest action ever taken by any Indian state against Ola Electric. The move comes after months of growing frustration among customers who faced long delays, lack of spare parts, and poor communication from service centers.

Why Goa Took This Strong Action

Officials stated that the decision was made after repeated reports of service failure and the company’s inability to address customer concerns. Recently, hundreds of Ola owners met RTO officers to highlight issues such as non-functional service hubs, unavailability of spare parts, unclear warranty policies, and scooters lying unrepaired for months.

Sources revealed that despite several warnings, Ola failed to improve its service operations in the state. As a result, the government decided to act in the interest of consumer safety and satisfaction.

Consumers Advised to File Legal Complaints

The Transport Department has urged affected customers to approach the Consumer Court for formal complaints. Officials said, “Considering the scale of grievances and poor company response, customers are encouraged to seek legal remedies.”

Authorities also confirmed that the service crisis is serious and that they are coordinating with the state government to ensure compliance with service quality norms before allowing Ola to resume sales.

Protecting Future Buyers

This is among the toughest government interventions in the Indian EV market. The suspension on Ola scooter registration will continue until the company strengthens its after-sales infrastructure and customer support systems.

Officials emphasized that the move aims to protect future buyers from similar issues faced by existing owners who have been unable to use their scooters for months due to delayed servicing. Although Ola temporarily deployed service teams after the Chief Minister’s intervention, complaints soon resurfaced once again.

On social media, users continue to share videos and posts criticizing Ola’s poor service response, demanding long-term solutions instead of temporary fixes.
